Making a Film part 2
3 years in the making this beautiful film captures the essence of my practice and my motivation for making and continuing to explore metal. Fern has produced this lovely and meaningful film, for which I am eternally grateful.
The Cognitive Value of Making
Why do we still place so much more value on academic ability versus practical skills? In school from a really young age to the working world in adulthood! If you are academically gifted then great, but if like many you struggle, there are other valid intellectual paths.
Metal Patina - experiments revisited.
This is non-toxic metal patina how I do it! This is not NEW, I haven’t invented it, however I have taken the information and recipes and made them my own. This is what I suggest for anyone else wanting to have a go.
What I love about making in metal!
My motivation for continuing to work with metal and what I love most about each of the metals I work with, silver, copper and brass.
DYCP - hammer raising part 2.
Continuing my practice of hammer raising and filming the process to document, evaluate and learn from.
DYCP - WIP photoshoot
Professional shoot with Scott Murray capturing work in progress and patina experiments as well as up to date maker profile images.
DYCP - hammer raising part 1.
At the beginning of April I travelled up north for a 3 day hammer raising course with Adrian Hope. This was a great learning experience that was long overdue.
DYCP - patination part 1
The first element of my ACE funded project is researching non-toxic patination techniques followed by a series of my own experiments. I am so delighted to have dedicated time and space to experiment and develop my own series of samples that will lead to a new and exciting body of work.
