Oxidised Copper Bowl
Hand raised copper bowl with hammered and oxidised finish.
Hammer raising is an ancient technique that has been used to produce metal hollow forms for centuries, even with the introduction of alternative machine driven techniques it is still practiced today. It can be a time consuming process and takes years of practice to master but there are such beautiful qualities that just can’t be mimicked.
This copper bowl has been left with visible marks of the making process when using a steel hammer, further highlighted by the oxidised and brushed back finish. I love the process of hammer raising and all of the marks that go with it, I aim to share this in different ways in the finished piece.
