Copper brooch HS2

£40.00

Copper brooch with Hendersons relish and sawdust patina, with sterling silver pin.

MADE FROM OFFCUTS

These brooches are made from the corners which are cut away when making my bowls and vessels. They are then formed using a nylon hammer and rolling pin to create the anticlastic form. The process takes several rounds of hammering and annealing (heating to soften the metal) to achieve the desired shape. The sterling silver pin is then soldered on and shaped to suit the curve of the brooch.

These pieces are then put into their patina bed for 1-2 weeks. They are then left to dry out naturally and finished with renaissance wax.

Anticlastic raising: A flat sheet of metal is shaped by stretching its edges and compressing the centre so that the surface develops two curves at right angles to each other.

Please note: Colours may appear slightly different than the images.

Materials: Copper, sterling silver.

Dimensions: L:35mm W:40mm (widest part)
