Metal patina.

Go pro mounted on helmet

DYCP - funded by Arts Council England.

Let me introduce you to my Arts Council funded project and some of the contributing elements and people. Firstly I am researching non-toxic metal patination techniques to explore different colours and surfaces on metal. I will develop a library of experiments and data to use in future work, combining the surface patina with my hand raised forms.

Following this I am undertaking some training to develop my hammer raising skills and establish more sustainable ways of working. This includes the types of tools I use, the metal thickness and a slightly different hammer raising process, all of which should enable me to continue to practice in a more sustainable manner.

Throughout this journey I am documenting everything using film, photography and supporting blog posts. Partly filmed by me with a Go pro, I will collaborate with film maker Fern Scott of Great Scott Films to create a film about this work. To follow progress as it happens you can read my blog using the link below.
